As a reminder to all business owners whose companies were formed or are doing business in the State of Maryland, your Annual Report is due to be filed with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation by April 15, 2009. The Annual Report must be filed in order to keep your business in good standing with the state of Maryland. You may obtain an extension for filing, if necessary. The forms can be found at the following web address: http://www.dat.state.md.us/sdatweb/personal.html#forms
For all corporations formed or doing business in the State of Delaware, your Annual Report is due to be filed with the Delaware Division of Corporations by March 1, 2009. Although Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies and General Partnerships formed in the State of Delaware do not file an Annual Report, they are required to pay an annual tax of $250.00. Taxes for these entities are to be received no later than June 1st of each year. Delaware has mandated that all Annual Reports must be filed online at the following web address: http://corp.delaware.gov/paytaxes.shtml
If your business was formed or is doing business in a state other than Maryland or Delaware, you should check with that state’s corporations division (usually in the office of the Secretary of State) for all annual filing requirements. If you need any assistance determining the filing requirements for your business, please contact Jeremy Garner at garner@bowie-jensen.com.
